Basic School in Kingston Jamaica Gets “Spruced Up” in Collaborative Activity
- to install a toilet in the teachers' rest room
- to refurbish the students' bathroom
- to repaint the two classrooms
- to install whiteboards in the classrooms

Contributors to the success of the Paradise Street Basic School "Spruce Up" Project included former Japan Exchange and Teaching Programme participants (JETs) and representatives of JICA's Knowledge Co-Creation Programme based in the Ministry of Tourism, National Water Commission (NWC), Japan Agency for International Development (JAID), National Solid Waste Management agency (NSWMA) and the Ministry of Education Youth and Information (MoEYI).
In thanking the team for its assistance, Principal, Ms. Terika Grant, noted other infrastructural issues that needed to be addressed at the school and said that they could address some of the needs of the schools if they get the tools to do so.
The Paradise Street Basic School was built in 1948 and is located in Rae Town in East Kingston. The Principal, Ms. Terika Grant, along with two teachers, are in charge of the education of twenty-one students, ages 2-6 years of age.
